Soul2Sole Dance Company is for the dancer that is ready to take their dancing to the next level.
Do you love to perform and enjoy the thrill of competition? Are you willing to work hard to achieve excellent dance technique? Are you ready to take on the challenge of becoming a well-rounded dancer learning ballet, lyrical, jazz, and hip-hop? Do you want to feel a true sense of team, build strong friendships, and create memories that will last a lifetime?
Each summer students can audition to be placed on our competitive dance teams determined by their dance experience and expertise. These teams will participate in area dance competitions and conventions. The commitment level is high but so are the rewards. Company members meet 3 times per week dancing a total of 6-10 hours per week. This is the minimum amount of time that it takes to become the type of dancer that is ready to participate at competition level dance. Company members are taught by the best and most dedicated instructors at Soul2Sole. Our staff of professional, highly trained instructors know how to connect with children to produce great technical results while keeping the classes fun and upbeat. The students are taught proper technique in all areas of dance including ballet, lyrical, jazz, and hip-hop. A strong emphasis is also placed on how to be a great performer making our students stand out and get noticed at competition! In addition to awards given for technical skill, our dancers have been recognized for overall best choreography, most entertaining, and best costume to name a few. Individual soloists have won the highest technical and entertainment awards as well as scholarships for national dance conventions and other national performances.
Soul2Sole Dance Company provides the very best technical and performance training while instilling lifelong qualities in our students such as high self-esteem and self-confidence, a strong work ethic, and goal setting. Our company members respect, encourage, and support one another creating an atmosphere that any dancer would love to be a part of.
If you're ready to train with the technical leader and most acclaimed Dance Company in the North Shore, you're ready to dance with the best- Soul2Sole! We have a new 5-room state-of-the-art facility with large studios featuring sprung floors and rehearsal space that duplicates the actual size of a stage you will be competing on.
A dance company apprentice will have the opportunity to study along side company members during their technique classes. (Ballet Tech , Turns and Progressions, Hip Hop Progressions and Stretch and Strengthen). This will enable them to improve their dance technique and study with dance company instructors. Apprentices will also be assigned additional classes that they will perform with in the annual recital. This will give them a well-rounded dance experience and cover all aspects of dance technique. Soul2Sole Dance's Artistic Director(Jenny Zuleger) will construct a personalized schedule that will serve each apprentice’s specific needs in order to become a full Soul2Sole Dance Company member in the future.
AA dance company understudy will attend all technique classes and rehearsal hours with a specific team. They will follow the exact schedule of the specified team and will attend all company social events, conventions, and competitions. They will be able to purchase dance company costumes with the understanding that they may or may not be able to perform at competitions and recitals. This decision will be based on whether or not their dance technique and knowledge of the material is at the level of the rest of the team. It is possible that some dancers may be a performing member for one dance discipline while being an understudy for another.
Ex: Susie Sole/Energize Team--Jazz, Lyrical - understudy; Tap, Hip Hop - performing member
This program is designed for students who want to dance more seriously but will ease in to our competitive dance program. Company Too members will be placed on a specific team and have the opportunity to perform and compete. They will have a set schedule of classes that they must attend on a weekly basis. They will attend all company social events, performances, and participate in all dance convention classes. They will also compete at one dance competition at the end of the dance season.
A dance company performing member will be placed on a specific team and have the opportunity to compete and perform dances at competitions, conventions, and recitals. They will have a set schedule of classes that they must attend on a weekly basis. They will attend all company social events, conventions, and competitions. They will also have the opportunity to participate in dance electives such as solos, duos, trios, and extra group numbers.
Your dance company class requirements will be determined by which team you are placed on. Each team will have a slightly different amount of required hours based on age and experience level. In addition, some dance company members may be required to take additional classes in a specific dance discipline in order to keep their company member status. Every team will be required to take Ballet (most teams will take 2 ballet classes per week), Jazz Turns and Progressions (some teams will take 2 classes per week) and Hip Hop Progressions along with their Jazz and Hip Hop rehearsal hours where they will learn their choreography for competition. Most teams will also be required to take Stretch and Strengthen and a Lyrical rehearsal hour. These classes will be assigned to you and must be taken at the Buffalo Grove location.
Dance electives will be given to Performing members that have completed at least one year as a Performing member of Dance Company and who attended the separate Friday audition. These assignments are optional - you are not required to accept them. They are an additional cost and time requirement and you may choose NOT to accept them.
Elective assignments are given to dancers who are at a superior technical level and are ready to take on more. They are in addition to your required dance hours per week. These assignments are the instructor's choice and do NOT carry over from year to year. Please do not contact any staff member with requests for these assignments. We will NOT accept requests!
please feel free to contact the Buffalo Grove studio with any additional questions 847-276-2820 or soul2soledance@yahoo.com

Guest Choreographer
We are excited to announce that a guest choreographer will be coming to the studio again this year. (Last year JT Horenstein choreographed Cell Block Tango for the Exceed Team). Jason Parsons will choreograph a contemporary piece that will require a separate audition in the fall. This audition will be open to all Excite, Affect, and Exceed team members. Mr. Parsons will choose his dancers based on this audition. Dates, costs, and more details will be emailed to you at a later date.
Team Crossover
We are pleased to introduce the "team crossover" addition to our company program. Due to the small size of the Affect team this year, we are inviting several of our oldest and strongest members of the Excite team to join them. This will act as a small group elective for those Excite members and will be in addition to their regular Excite dances. This is a great way for the Affect team to achieve a true small group with 5 members versus 4. We will be doing more "team crossovers" in the future. This privilege is a great way to show that we are all one big company and not just individual teams!
